Editor/Author Biographies
Piotr Augustyniak was born in Krakow, Poland in 1965. He graduated with a degree in electronic engineering (1989), received his PhD degree in electronics (1995), and his DSc (habilitation) in automatics (2004) all from the Electrical Engineering Department AGH-University of Science and Technology, Krakow.

He has worked at the Institute of Automatics AGH-UST, Krakow, as research engineer since 1989. In 1995 he became an assistant-professor, and in 2007 became associate professor. He has worked as a research engineer at Aspel SA, the largest Polish manufacturer of ECG equipment. His scientific interests include hardware and software problems of biosignal processing, currently he is working on perceptual model of electrocardiogram and data-dependent signal representation. He prototyped four acquisition and analysis systems for electrocardiography, electrooculography and electroencephalography. He published three books on electrodiagnostic signal processing, over 110 journal and conference papers, and was a reviewer and program committee member of many international conferences.

Professor Augustyniak is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, International Society of Electrocardiology and of the Computers in Cardiology Society.

Ryszard Tadeusiewicz studied at the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow (Poland) from which he graduated with honors (1971). Additionally, after receiving his degree in automatic control engineering, he studied at the faculty of medicine at the Medical Academy in Krakow, as well as undertook studies in the field of mathematical and computer methods in economics. He has written and published over 600 scientific papers, which were published in prestigious Polish and foreign scientific journals as well as numerous conference presentations - both national and international. Professor Tadeusiewicz also wrote over 70 scientific monographs and books, among them are highly popular textbooks, which had many reprints. He was supervisor of 54 doctoral theses and reviewer of more than 200 doctoral theses. In 2003 Polish scientists elected him to be President of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society – Polish Chapter.
