A Foundation in Diversity and Inclusion
IGI Global Scientific Publishing has embraced the concept of diversity, equality, and inclusion through international perspectives since the inception of the company. Unlike many other academic publishers, we have driven inclusivity and diversity through all our titles, long before academic diversity was widely encouraged in the academic world. We work with over 200,000+ researchers from around the world, 40% of whom hail from non-Western countries. As a publisher, we will continue to support our stance on inclusion of international perspectives above profit, and we will also work directly with our researchers to assist them in combatting discrimination and ensuring that all of our publications undergo a rigorous double-anonymized peer review process.
We publish important, yet niche areas of research, where in some cases these books sell a small number of copies due to the extremely narrow and forward-thinking concepts presented by the small groups of pioneering researchers. We provide equitable publishing opportunities for all aspiring and established authors worldwide. By working closely with a network of third-party partnerships with wholesalers, booksellers, and jobbers to distribute and sell the books throughout global markets, we remain focused on the quality of the publishing process. For many of our overseas distribution partnerships, especially in developing countries, we offer discounts to appease taxes, customs, and general distribution costs with enough savings for customers to affordably acquire the book.
Combatting Unethical Publishing Practices
The topic of “predatory publishers” is currently an obstacle facing the scholarly publishing industry. Unfortunately, many committees at institutions (large and small) are finding they do not have many internal resources to establish predatory from non-predatory publishers and are leaning heavily on misinformation that is circulating within the publishing ecosystem. In this day and age, there are in fact many profit-driven publishers looking to exploit researchers.
