Introduction

Multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) method is a fundamental approach that helps in the development of a solution to a given problem, using a specific mathematical model in several disciplines such as business, economic, healthcare, engineering, and waste. The MCDM methods outline a systematic and logical approach that assists the decision maker in comparing and selecting the alternative that best suits the decision at hand which takes into consideration the environment in which the problem was presented. The MCDM tools are considered as one of the most significant and quickly expanding subfields within operations research and management science. With the current complexity of decision designs, large scale interventions, and intense competitive environment, there is a need to ensure that different decision makers come up with the best decisions. In recent years, multicriteria decision making (MCDM) has increasingly attracted the attention of researchers and decision-makers worldwide. With the increasing complexity in modern society, the ability to successfully implement and apply MCDM methods in different areas becomes more and more important, which has led to constant growth in the MCDM literature and research.

Objective

This book offers a selection of scholarly works that discuss the most recent developments, applications, theories, and practices in the field of MCDM. Drawing on the latest theoretical research and focusing on practical applications and case studies, this book provides academics and researchers with the tools they need to develop their decision-making skills. This book, which is written in an easy-to-read style, will be useful for decision science professionals, scholars, and students alike.

Target Audience

The book is intended for a wide range of readers, including engineers, computer scientists, business and financial management, environmental studies, and any other professional with an interest in MCDM and its uses. Teaching MCDM courses in disciplines including computer science, applied mathematics, and industrial management may find the book helpful in introducing students to recent advancements in multi-criteria decision making.
