Call for Chapters

Proposals Submission Deadline: August 12, 2019
Full Chapters Due: September 25, 2019
Submission Date: January 3, 2020

Introduction

The Neurodevelomental Disorders (NDDs) have affected millions globally ranging from intellectual disability to Alzheimer. As per recent project study report, 23 million children (< 10 years) are affected with atleast one of the NDDs. In addition, the fuelling growth in the global market for disorder assistive and neurotechnological devices is providing an instance of the rapid growth of NDDs. Mounting evidence suggests that approaches based on multi-modal domains should move towards the goal of early diagnosis and intervention of NDD affected individuals. The interdisciplinary and collaborative advances in diagnostic, assessment, support and intervention schemes such as point-of-care and person-centric- designed approaches can resolve a number of side hurdles such as lack of awareness, transport, financial and expenses by catering the early diagnosis and intervention schemes at doorsteps. Thus, the interdisciplinary assistive tools can act as a first-aid by either preventing the disorder occurrence or onset of further complexities.

Objective

The book is intended to describe the neurodevelopmental disorders from onset to different stages/variants with a perspective of parents, psychologist and clinicians, discuss the cognitive therapies, and practical learning schemes in enhancing functional abilities, technology-based multimodal recommendations for non-pathological assessment, diagnostic options and intervention schemes, interdisciplinary domains for clinical guidance and decision-making, and encourage modern intervening options including individual-centric design thinking, rehabilitation-engineering and point-of-care devices for clinical settings.

Target Audience

The book will be beneficial to professionals and researchers working in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders and a primary reference source to all the academicians, librarians and students to fill the essential gaps in their research, project work and digital archives. The universities that have special education subjects in their curriculum and special institutes will follow the book for updating their teaching schemes and programs. It will be a good source to provide innovative and collaborative approaches in NDDs to clinical psychologists, special educators and counselors, therapists, and especially parents of special children, since they are the backbone of treatment. The awareness of the parents, clinicians and teachers for new techniques and tools is the need of the hour for the sustainable rehabilitation of NDD affected children.
