Facebook Integrates with Microsoft Office

By IGI Global on Nov 16, 2010
Facebook has launched an application which integrates its platform with Microsoft Office applications, allowing users to send and receive Office files created in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. They can upload and download documents or simply include an attachment, giving recipients access to documents created in Office Live, Microsoft's cloud-based of the suite. As one Microsoft Official stated, "Inspiration and the need to share documents can strike at any time and in any context – yes, even while looking at pictures of a friend's new pug on Facebook."
This may be a sign of two major companies planning to work together in efforts to fend off Google, which is planning on unveiling its own social networking service sometime soon.
What are your thoughts on this new update to Facebook? Does it make things easier for you as we develop into a massive Web 2.0 based society?
