Abstract

This chapter provides recommendations for the integration of various types of patterns. Complex layers of patterns can be assembled in a holistic enterprise architecture pattern (HEAP), which is integrated by using the integration of HEAP (IoHEAP), which can support agile transformation projects. The IoHEAP is based on a layered concept of patterns and an optimized deployment process. An integration patterns model can be used as a template to integrate solution building blocks (SBB), which can be used to implement a variety of types of transformation projects. In this chapter, the focus is on the integration of various pattern types that can be used to deliver adaptable SBBs. SBBs are the backbone of Enterprise architecture (EA)-based transformation projects.

Research And Development

The RDP flow acknowledged an important gap in the mentioned fields that are presented in the form of keywords, mainly due to the fact that the existing literature on transformation projects, their failure rates and on various methodologies treating business transformations, offer practically no insight into: 1) An optimal transformation pattern, like the HEAP; and 2) The profile of the Project manager as an Architect of Adaptive Business Information Systems (AofABIS), who is the principal architect and designer. Such a holistic pattern and profile should be capable to setup a business EA integration concept to facilitate the implementation phase of Projects. Previous research models confirmed the mentioned profile, that is based on the AofABIS profile, and produced a set of managerial recommendations and related factors (SAP, 2013; Trad, & Kalpić, 2016a). This RDP uses a PoC to prove the Research Question (RQ) and the related hypothesis, establish viability, show technical issues and show overall direction. To some extent it is similar to the prototyping in engineering thesis works (Camarinha-Matos, 2012), where the prototype proofs RQ’s feasibility.

Research Question

This article RQ is: Can IoHEAP support complex transformation projects, and more specifically in its implementation phase? Where HEAP is the backbone and background for building dynamic and flexible EAs that is based on various patterns’ structures. This chapter is strongly related to the Business Transformation Projects based on a Holistic Enterprise Architecture Pattern (HEAP)-The Basic Construction chapter (Trad, & Kalpić, 2022). It mainly tries to integrate various types of pattern structures.

Pattern’S Structure

Existing Standards and the Unbundling Process

The evolution of technology standards, like dynamic linking of components, made basic patterns receptive to development and integration with design patterns and EA. Before using complex structures and standards, there is a need to unbundle and refine the legacy ICS.
