Abstract

This chapter presents the fundaments of the cloud transformation concept (CTC), and this concept is a basic component of the author's framework. The implementation of the CTC compute system (CTC-CS) is supported the author's applied holistic mathematical model (AHMM) for CTC (AHMM4CTC) and many research works on compute systems (CS), mathematical models, artificial intelligence (AI), and business/financial/organizational transformations projects. The AHMM is based on cross-functional research on an authentic and proprietary mixed research method that is supported by his own version of an AI search tree, which is combined with an internal heuristic's algorithm. The main focus is on CTC-CS requirements and transformation strategy. The proposed AHMM4CTC based CTC-CS is a virtual secured computing environment which uses an integrated empiric decision-making process. The CTC-CS is supported by a real-life case of business transformation project, which needs a Cloud infrastructure that is supported by the alignment of various existing Cloud standards.

Background

This chapter’s background combines: CTC-CS, AI, cloud security, development, and operations for CTC (DevOps4CTC) implementation strategy, knowledge management system for CTC (KMS4CTC), EA, heuristics/mathematical models, ICS management, and business transformation. The CTC-CS is a generic and cross-business that interacts with a reasoning method which manage sets of critical success factors (CSF) that can be used by an organizational transformation projects (or simply the Project). This chapter uses an insurance case (Jonkers et al., 2012a). This chapter is a continuation of many years of research and development project for CTC (RDP4CTC) on various Project aspects. The CTC-CS is business driven and is agnostic to any applied problem domain (APD). It is founded on a genuine research framework that in turn is based on many existing industry standards, like the architecture development method for CTC (ADM4CTC) (The Open Group, 2011a, 2011b). The Business Transformation Manager, Cloud architect or enterprise architect (or simply the Manager) can integrate CTC-CS in the Entity’s architecture roadmap, where CTC-CS’ must deliver the path for integrating the Cloud with the ADM4CTC, in all Project’s activities. The RDP4CTC is based on literature review process for CTC (LRP4CTC), a qualitative analysis for CTC (QLA4CTC) methodology and on a proof of concept (PoC), used to solve the research question (RQ), in which the Manager’s role is crucial and his decisions are aided by using the decision making system (DMS for CTC (DMS4CTC) (Agievich, 2014). Many CSFs influence CTC-CS’s integration, like: 1) CS interface mechanisms; 2) Managing risks; 3) Entity resources mapping to CTC requirements; 4) CTC skills; 5) CTC security, infrastructure and requirements technological support; 6) Tests Capacities; and 7) Monitoring and control subsystem. A Cloud based systems approach is for the CTC-CS because the synchronizing of resources can be a problematic. There is extreme pressure to implementation CTC so the Entity becomes agile; that needs Cloud’s high performances, security, availability, and AI capable. Exaggerated pressure is the main cause that Projects fail.
