Abstract

With the inclusion of the internet in life, changes and transformations have occurred in almost every field at different points and continue to be experienced. This change and transformation can be seen in a positive way as well as in a negative way. The structure, which is equipped with new communication technologies, has affected the traditional habits and forms of communication. Different elements and concepts have been articulated with digital life into the types of violence. Cyberbullying, cyber harassment, cyber humiliation, and cyber victimization are among these concepts. In today's conditions, social media usage habits are increasing, and individuals naturally recognize different faces of these channels.

Introduction

With the inclusion of the Internet in life, changes and transformations have occurred in almost every field at different points and continue to be experienced. This change and transformation can be seen in a positive way as well as in a negative way. The structure, which is equipped with new communication technologies, has affected the traditional habits and forms of communication.

Different elements and concepts have been articulated with digital life into the types of violence. Cyberbullying, cyber harassment, cyber humiliation, cyber victim, cyber victim are among these concepts. In today's conditions, especially social media usage habits are increasing, and individuals naturally recognize different faces of these channels. In today's world, some transactions carried out through the so-called virtual world accounts used only by real individuals find a place as harassment and bullying by malicious people.

This harassment and bullying becomes inevitable in social media, which is so close. In this study, the concepts of cyber bullying and cyber harassment will be evaluated with various examples, and the importance of being conscious and having a higher level of awareness in social media will be emphasized.

In today's conditions, where the world's population is almost 8 billion, the fact that an individual is informed about an event that takes place anywhere in the world, especially through social media tools with an internet connection, makes these channels indispensable and highlights the need to take very careful steps in these areas. presents it.

The individual, who has settled in a passive position in the traditional structure, has now risen to an active position. Its new location provides the individual with the opportunity to access the content they want whenever and wherever they want, as well as the opportunity to produce their own content, giving them privileges not given in the traditional structure. The individual in an active position can sometimes use this freedom given to him in ways that will harm himself.

It is important in many respects to increase the use of the internet and social media tools by individuals and to know which tools they use for what purposes. The internet, which is the basis of social media, offers people an environment of communication, sharing, communication and socialization that they have not had before (Dingin, 2021, p. 149). The Internet has provided new platforms for risk taking, including adolescent participation in online interpersonal violence (Elsaesser, Russell, Ohannessian, & Patton, 2017, p. 62).
