Michelle L. F. Cheong

Michelle Cheong is the Professor of Information Systems (Education) and Associate Dean of Postgraduate Professional Education at the School of Computing & Information Systems (SCIS) at the Singapore Management University (SMU), where she is in charge of the Master of IT in Business (MITB) and the Doctor of Engineering (EngD) programmes. She had 8 years of industry experience leading teams to develop complex enterprise-wide IT systems covering business functions from sales to engineering, inventory management, planning, production, and distribution. Upon obtaining her Ph.D., she joined SMU in 2005 where she teaches courses in data and decision analytics. Michelle has won several teaching awards at SMU and she also bagged the inaugural Teradata University Network (TUN) Teaching Innovation Award 2013, which recognizes excellence in the teaching of Business Intelligence and Business Analytics at the undergraduate, graduate and/or executive education levels. Her research interests are in Data and Decision Analytics, and data driven pedagogical research including Technology-Enhanced Learning, Learning Analytics, and AI in Education. She publishes in journals and conferences including Education and Information Technology, Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Informs Transactions on Education, International Conference on Computers in Education, and International Conference on Teaching, Assessment and Learning for Engineering.
