Georgios K. D. SaharidisDr. Georgios K.D. Saharidis graduated from the Industrial Engineering and Management School of the Technical University of Crete, has been working in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Thessaly since 2011 and is currently an Assistant Professor in operations research and industrial management. He obtained his master and PhD from the Ecole Centrale de Paris in 2002 and 2006 respectively, studying the scheduling problems of chemical industry. Dr. Saharidis specializes in mathematical decomposition methods as well as in solving mathematical programming problems arising in areas such as transport, environment, production planning, the army, biology, electricity market, chemical processes, etc. He has developed various decomposition methods for quickly solving simple mixed integer programming problems as well as problems of multi-level (bi-level optimization) programming. He is also the principal investigator for the development of web applications for environmentally friendly transportation provided by www.GreenYourRoute.com platform. Finally, he is the coordinator of GreenYourMove project, co-funded by LIFE, with the main objective being the development and promotion of a co-modal journey application to minimize GHG emission in Europe.
