IGI Global was excited to attend and interact with librarians of various universities and institutions

IGI Global Visits Librarians in New Orleans for the ALA Annual 2018 Conference & Exhibition

By IGI Global on Jul 11, 2018
On June 21-26, IGI Global representatives participated in the ALA Annual 2018 Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. IGI Global, located at booth #1031, joined around 25,000 librarians and vendors. During the conference, Taylor Rudnick, E-Resources Manager, and Melissa Wagner, Managing Editor of Acquisitions, discussed with attendees the various librarian-focused initiatives that have been introduced this year.

"I was very pleased to get the chance to meet with librarians we have previously collaborated with at ALA," shared Taylor Rudnick. "It was great to share our content with both current and future customers."

These initiatives included their simple, transparent pricing on IGI Global’s InfoSci®-Databases. The new pricing makes it easier for librarians and their institutions to access the research they need at an affordable and flexible price. IGI Global's expansive collection of 4,000+ e-books for the 2019 © is now available at a one-time perpetual purchase price of US$ 17,500* for new customers through the InfoSci-Books database. Additionally, IGI Global’s array of 175+ journals is now available for an annual subscription rate as low as US$ 5,100* through the InfoSci-Journals database. IGI Global’s database subject areas cover a wide range of disciplines, including business and management, education, library and information science, media and communications, and social sciences and humanities. Additionally, to ensure that these databases are available to institutions of all sizes, libraries can receive 100 percent credit for any currently owned titles toward the purchase of a database collection when their library’s holdings are analyzed by IGI Global. As a part of this new pricing, the academic publisher also shared their new Open Access Fee Waiver Initiative, which provides researchers with a simple and affordable option for publishing Open Access. For any library that invests in InfoSci-Journals or a smaller journal collection, IGI Global will match the library’s investment with a fund of equal value to go toward subsidizing the open access article processing charge (APC) for their students, faculty, and staff at that institution when their work is submitted and accepted under open access into an IGI Global journal housed within that collection.** This initiative was introduced to ensure that researchers and academicians have a quality and affordable way to publish Open Access.

Another program that was introduced this year is IGI Global’s Library Account Program, which provides librarians with a quick and affordable solution for purchasing titles directly from IGI Global via the IGI Global Online Bookstore. With no embargos, flexible payment options, an automatic 25% discount on every order, and the ability to share research instantly with faculty and students, the program is an important part of IGI Global’s mission to make research more accessible.

We enjoyed our trip to the ALA Annual 2018 Convention & Exhibition in New Orleans, and we look forward to future opportunities to talk with librarians and researchers about our publishing initiatives.

*InfoSci-Journals $5,100 annual subscription price and InfoSci-Books $17,500 perpetual purchase is only available to new customers and cannot be combined with most offers or multi-site use.

**The fund will be offered on an annual basis and expire at the end of the subscription period. The fund would renew as the subscription is renewed for each year thereafter. The open access fees will be waived after the student, faculty, or staff’s paper has been vetted and accepted into an IGI Global journal and the fund can only be used toward publishing OA in an IGI Global journal. Libraries in developing countries will have the match on their investment doubled.
