IGI Global hosted a Neapolitan panel session at the 2018 Charleston conference

IGI Global Presented A New Open Access Offset Model Program at 2018 Charleston Conference

By Sharlene Oong on Nov 21, 2018
As a tenth-year diamond sponsor of the 2018 Charleston Conference, Dr. Mehdi Khosrow-Pour, CEO and President of IGI Global, and Caroline Campbell, Marketing Manager, represented the international academic publisher at the event, and had the opportunity to network and speak with leading librarians, partners, and institutions.

The highlight of the 2018 Charleston Conference for IGI Global's hosted Neapolitan Panel Session, titled “Sustainable Open Access Approached: Benefits for Researchers, Librarians, and Publishers,” which covered IGI Global’s New InfoSci®-Journals Open Access Fee Waiver (Offset Model) Program. For any library that invests in IGI Global’s InfoSci-Journal collection, IGI Global will match the library’s investment with a fund of equal value to go toward subsidizing the OA article processing charge (APC) for their faculty and staff when their work is submitted and accepted under OA into an IGI Global journal.* View the full recording below:

Attendees at the session heard viewpoints from publishers, a librarian, as well as an independent researcher on current challenges and opportunities presented within the OA movement, and ways that everyone can come together to achieve a result that provides credible and trusted publishing outlets for researchers, the highest quality peer-reviewed content for libraries, an affordable pricing model for APCs, and sustainability for publishers.

Speakers on this panel included:

Other notable events included IGI Global’s attendance at the Vendor Showcase, where they spoke to leading-librarians about their new 2018/2019 initiatives, such as:

As such, IGI Global will analyze libraries' existing IGI Global publication holdings, and offer 100 percent credits towards the purchase of one of the InfoSci-Database collections. For a holdings analysis, contact: eresources@igi-global.com.

  • 25% Discount on all Purchases Through a Free IGI Global Library Account
IGI Global offers librarians a 25% discount on all purchases when they sign up for an IGI Global Library Account. • Consortium Opportunities
As a leading international academic publisher, IGI Global collaborates with consortia worldwide to ensure that institutions are being provided with the most sought-after, emerging research through flexible and common sense offers. Through working with leading international consortia, IGI Global sees the benefit in both group purchasing and offers for individual consortia members, to ensure that libraries globally are able to access and provide the resources needed to benefit the wider academic community. We would like to thank all of the members from the Carolina Consortium who stopped by our table, and we look forward to continuing to support your current IGI Global offer. Additionally, during the conference, IGI Global awarded the 2018 Academic Librarian Sponsorship to Ms. Melissa Gustafson, E-Resources and Copyright Librarian at Indiana State University. This sponsorship program provided her with a $500 stipend for the attendance of the 2018 Charleston Conference. Applicants of the sponsorship program were asked to write a 250-word essay on how librarians and publishers can advance knowledge management resources. Based on Ms. Gustafson's contributions to the wider academic community including content support for the Library SharePoint portal, multi-disciplinary research, and more, IGI Global was proud to present her with this award. To read more about this award and about Ms. Gustafson, read the recent IGI Global interview titled, “IGI Global Announces the Winner of the 2018 Academic Librarian Sponsorship Award.
