Independent respite care specialist Bob Holda shares his research at international conferences.

IGI Global Contributor Presents at International Conferences

By IGI Global on Jul 19, 2019

Recently, Mr. Bob Holda, an independent respite care specialist, and author of the IGI Global chapter, “Respite Tourism for Family Caregivers” which is included in the Scopus-indexed IGI Global publication, Current Issues and Emerging Trends in Medical Tourism, presented his research at the 2nd International Conference of Health-Oriented Tourism & Hospitality (ICoHOTH) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which took place on July 22-24, 2019.

During his presentation, he explained that within medical tourism one of the most misunderstood segments of society is the family caregiver, as they often sacrifice their own employment schedule, personal time, and sometimes their own health to provide care to loved ones. Through this expanded lens of healthcare, he raised awareness of the challenges that these family-oriented caregivers can face and how they are mitigate stressors to negate stress and burnout through relaxation and respite through medical tourism.

Additionally, he was able to provide a deep analysis into his IGI Global chapter, “Respite Tourism for Family Caregivers,” and how this research can be applied to the caregiver themselves, travel agencies and businesses, media outlets, and medical facilities.

As this event was hosted by the Asia Pacific Research Institute for Health-Oriented Tourism (APRI-HOT), it brought together industry-leading academicians, industry professionals, as well as governmental officials, NGOs, and other organizations to discuss the latest developments in hospitality and management.

Due to this increased exposure and this advanced research, Mr. Holda will also be presenting his work at the 5th International Tourism and Hospitality Management Conference (ITHMC), which will be held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on October 2-6, 2019. This conference is organized by the University of Sarajevo, Akdeniz University, and EuropeCongress, aims to bring together leading academic scientists and researchers to exchange and share their experiences and scientific research results, ideas, and applications about all the aspects of tourism science and hospitality management. For more information regarding this conference, view the conference website here. Additionally, be sure to review related IGI Global research here.

Current Issues and Emerging Trends in Medical Tourism features innovative, research-based chapters spanning the spectrum of medical travel issues including, but not limited to, customer perceptions, ethical considerations, reproductive medicine, social media use, family caregivers, organ transplants, human trafficking, and surrogacy concerns.
