FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ZBW logoHershey, PA, November 20, 2018-Continuing its long-standing partnership with the German ZBW - Leibniz Information Center for Economics, IGI Global, an international academic publisher headquartered in Hershey, PA, provides innovative research through IGI Global’s InfoSci®-Books and InfoSci®-Journals collection, and are introducing a new sustainable Open Access (OA) program, InfoSci-Journals’ Open Access (OA) Fee Waiver (offset model) Program, to hundreds of leading universities, colleges, and other institutions in Germany.

"The ZBW licenses content from a variety of publishers. Among these, IGI Global is one of the few providers which meet the needs of the institutions. So far, not only an extended scope of rights but also our metadata specifics have been largely met. All in all, the entire license process runs smoothly and IGI Global always tries to implement the requirements of the institutions," stated Sindy Wegner, Manager of Legal Affairs and Licensing, of ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics.

For over five years, IGI Global has created customized solutions for the German Consortia, organized by ZBW, through its e-journals and in 2017, was selected to be one of their first e-book partner. Now, their offers have expanded to provide German institutions with specialized pricing on:

  • InfoSci-Books, a collection of 4,500+ reference books with over 93,000 chapters and over one million reference citations.
  • InfoSci-Journals, a database of over 24,000 peer-reviewed articles with over one million reference citations sourced from 185+ scholarly journals.
  • InfoSci®-Subject Databases, smaller subsets of InfoSci-Books and InfoSci-Journals, these subject and discipline databases allow institutions to invest in focused collections spanning 11 core subjects (business, computer science, education, engineering, environmental and agriculture, government and law, library and information science, media and communications, medicine and healthcare, security and forensics, and social sciences and humanities).

In addition to having access to these groundbreaking databases, institutions within this consortium can take advantage of IGI Global’s new InfoSci-Journals’ OA Fee Waiver (Offset Model) Program, which allows the OA article processing charge (APC) for any article that is submitted into an IGI Global journal to be waived when the researcher’s institution is subscribed to InfoSci-Journals. This program provides an additional source of OA APC funding, ensuring that German researchers are able to affordably publish OA and increase the discoverability of their work. For librarians, it provides an opportunity to have an active role in the rapidly expanding OA movement, while ensuring that the content they provide to their patrons is of the utmost quality.

“Unlike other larger publishing houses that are focused on satisfying their stockholders, IGI Global has always understood the reality of library budgetary limitations and for decades, has put serving the academic community well above monetary profits,” stated Nick Newcomer, Director of Marketing and E-Resources. “As such, we are excited to continue our collaboration with ZBW to provide them with a flexible and common-sense offer that will ensure that they have the resources and research needed to benefit the academic community.”

All of IGI Global’s InfoSci®-Databases are hosted on the world-renowned InfoSci Platform, which provides librarian-and researcher-friendly features including:

  • No Set-Up, Hosting, or Maintenance Fees
  • COUNTER Compliant Reporting
  • Free MARC Records
  • Unlimited Simultaneous Users
  • No DRM
  • Formatted Citations with the Ability to Export to RefWorks and EasyBib
  • No Embargo of Content (research is available months in advance of the print release)
  • Full Book Downloads
