IGI Global Continues to Expand Innovation in the Library Sectors of New Zealand With EPIC

By IGI Global on Nov 21, 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hershey, PA, November 21, 2018- IGI Global, a leading international academic publisher, headquartered in Hershey, PA, recently announced their renewal of partnership with Electronic Purchasing in Collaboration (EPIC), a non-profit national consortium that negotiates and facilitates e-content for New Zealand institutions, for the 2019 copyright year.

With this continued partnership, IGI Global will be providing electronic resource access options to over 130 individual academic, special, corporate institutions, including University of Otago, Victoria University of Wellington, University of Auckland, and more, through their InfoSci®-Database collections, with special pricing on InfoSci®-Books and InfoSci®-Journals. Through EPIC, IGI Global will be working in close collaboration with the National Library of New Zealand, who manages the operations of the consortium on behalf of member organizations.

With IGI Global’s simple, transparent pricing structure of IGI Global’s full InfoSci-Database collection, that enables institutions of every size the opportunity to access the most cutting-edge research at a reasonable price, this offer includes personalized pricing on:

  • InfoSci-Books, a collection of 4,500+ reference books with over 93,000 chapters and over one million reference citations.
  • InfoSci-Journals, a database with over 24,000 peer-reviewed articles with over one million reference citations sourced from 185+ scholarly journals.
  • InfoSci-Subject Databases, smaller subsets of InfoSci-Books and InfoSci-Journals, these subject and discipline databases allow institutions to invest in focused collections spanning 11 core subjects (business, computer science, education, engineering, environmental and agriculture, government and law, library and information science, media and communications, medicine and healthcare, security and forensics, and social sciences and humanities).

With no hidden fees or maintenance fees, institution-wide unlimited simultaneous access, the full-text PDF and HTML e-books and e-journals within these collections are ideal for research and academic use. Hosted on the world-renowned InfoSci platform, these databases host features including virtually no DRM, no embargo of content (research is available months in advance of print release), formatted citations with the ability to export to RefWorks and EasyBib, a multi-lingual user interface, COUNTER Compliant, and free MARC records.

Additionally, institutions within this consortium can also take advantage of IGI Global’s new InfoSci-Journals’ OA Fee Waiver (Offset Model) Program, which allows the OA article processing charge (APC) for any article that is submitted into an IGI Global journal to be waived when the researcher’s institution is subscribed to InfoSci-Journals. This program provides an additional source of OA APC funding, ensuring that researchers in New Zealand are able to publish OA affordably, and increase the discoverability of their work. For librarians, it provides an opportunity to have an active role in the rapidly expanding OA movement, providing the most up-to-date and emerging content to their patrons.

“IGI Global looks forward to partnering with EPIC to achieve their vision of providing access to high-quality electronic information for all New Zealanders,” stated Nick Newcomer, Director of Marketing. “Through specialized offer coupled with our emerging research content, libraries throughout New Zealand have a collaborative and flexible procurement option to ensure that the necessary content is acquired within their institutions.”
