IGI Global Author to Host Online Symposium from the Pacific Ocean

By IGI Global on Feb 16, 2011
Kimberly Mann Bruch, of the High Performance Wireless Research and Education Network (HPWREN) at the University of California, San Diego, will be conducting an online symposium on February 28th, 2011 at 12 pm EST from the Point Loma Tidepools of the Pacific Ocean. She will be talking about how technology can help bring learning experiences, such as these tidepools, to people who do not have access to these resources.

Prof. Bruch has written a teaching case featured in the Journal of Cases on Information Technology (Vol. 12, Issue 3, 2010), that explains how this has been used by HPWREN to reach out and bring new experiences to students at the Pala Native American Learning Center in southern California. The case, "Live Interactive Virtual Explorations at a Southern California Native American Learning Center: Case Studies and Lessons Learned," explains how the community members use high speed Internet connections to visit an observatory, an ecological reserve, the Loma Point tidepools, and a lighthouse.

To participate in Prof. Bruch's online symposium, please visit our symposium page to sign up. The teaching case is available for purchase on demand or as part of InfoSci®-Cases.
