Google’s Latest Adventure

By IGI Global on Sep 3, 2010
In an era where cordless phones from 1999 could probably already be found in antique shops, people are definitely moving away from traditional phone calls. Still, when it comes to the business world, the ability to have a personal conversation from far away is hard to replicate in any form of communication other than a phone call, so it's possible that we can't give up on our telephones just yet. Or can we?

Internet calling is a rapidly growing service that can provide users with the ability to make phone calls without ever touching an actual telephone. As the world of technology grows increasingly complex, many users still want to cut back on the number of electronic devices they need. Could a desk phone be the next appliance to completely go out the window?

Google has recently moved into the world of internet calling, but some say that they have a few changes to make for the sake of the business world. According to a recent article, analysts say that Google needs to add more mobile capability and support for business customers if it wants to compete with Skype, the current leading internet phone service. It has been said that integrating the new phone service with some of Google's many other services will be attractive and helpful to users, but for right now, Google contends that it does not have plans to do so.
