Dr. Evans Osabuohien Presents At PEGNet And NES Annual Conferences IGI Global Editor Dr. Evans Osabuohien recently presented at conferences in Germany and Nigeria discussing research featured in his title Handbook of Research on In-Country Determinants and Implications of Foreign Land Acquisitions. This title examines the economic, sociological, and environmental issues surrounding land transactions and the impact these deals may have on local households and communities. Focusing on international issues as well as domestic concerns, this publication is a useful reference for policymakers, academics, researchers, and advanced-level students in various disciplines. Dr. Osabuohien has delivered presentations at events all over the world in promotion of this invaluable reference source.

Held in Berlin from October 8th-9th 2015, the 10th Annual Conference of Poverty Reduction, Equity and Growth Network (PEGNet) focuses on the "Transformation of Developing and Emerging Economies: Challenges and Opportunities for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth." It is a forum to stimulate practical cooperation between research, policy design, and the implementation of development projects and programs.

Dr. Evans Osabuohien's presentation at the event, co-authored with Raoul Herrmann, Uchenna Efobi, and Ciliaka Gitau, was entitled "Female Labour Participation and Large-Scale Land Investments in Tanzania: Macro-Micro Evidences." Delivered on October 8th, it featured a panel organized by the German Development Institute on Rural Transformation.

The 56th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) was held at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, from October 11th-14th, 2015. The main objective of this event is to promote the study of economic and social issues in Nigeria and to provide an adequate platform for members to express opinions thereon. The theme of the conference was "Attaining Inclusive Growth in Nigeria: Prospects and Challenges", and it focused on how to improve future growth and make it more participatory and diversified, thereby maximizing high-productivity job opportunities for the teeming youth and so on.

Dr. Evans Osabuohien Presents At PEGNet And NES Annual Conferences The conference commenced on Sunday evening, October 11th, at the Ladi Kwali Conference Hall in the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, and was comprised of a wide mix of policy makers, academic scholars, researchers, students, and stakeholders both from within and outside Nigeria. It was able to mobilize national research and analytical capacity in diagnosing and articulating relevant practicable policies and strategies for diversified and inclusive growth in Nigeria.

There were presentations by the World Bank on the state of employment in Nigeria. The keynote address for the opening ceremony was given by the Director General of West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management-WAIFEM, Professor A.H. Ekpo, who gave an in-depth analysis on the performance of the Nigerian Economy. Another presentation was made at the plenary by Professor A.G. Garba, who questioned the workability of inclusive growth in Nigeria using the biblical scenario of ‘the rich man and Lazarus’ to demonstrate the fact that inclusive growth is unattainable in Nigeria. Finally, Dr. Ayodele Odusola, Chief Economist, UNDP (New York) delivered a presentation highlighting the dismal performance of Nigeria in many parameters of development in Africa

Dr. Evans Osabuohien's session was held on the fourth and final day of the conference on October 14th. Special sessions are usually designated for members of NES to showcase current and ongoing research that will help in stimulating other scholars in a given area. The session Dr. Osabuohien organized on microeconomic issues was titled "Agricultural Transformation and Households Livelihood in Nigeria: A Multi-perspective Discourse". It featured four research papers. The first one was made by Dr. Evans Osabuohien with the title: Large-Scale Land Based Investments and Employment Dynamics in Nigeria: The case of a domestic investor. The second paper titled Assessing the Impact of the Rice Sector Policy Reforms on Income Mobility of Rural Households in Nigeria was presented by Dr. Henry Okodua. The third presentation was made by Mrs. Mercy Ozoya with the title: Infrastructural Challenge, Women Disempowerment and Land: The Future of Food Security in Selected Edo Farming Communities, Nigeria. While the final one was on Agricultural Trade and Rural Development: The Case of Pineapple Farmers, Traders and consumers in South-West Nigeria, which was presented by Ms. Ibukun Beecroft.
