Editor/Author Biographies
Peter A.C. Smith has maintained a worldwide consulting practice assisting leading public and private sector organizations boost their performance by enhancing their leadership and organizational capabilities since 1990, when he formed The Leadership Alliance Inc. The breadth of Peter’s previous practical hands-on management experience with Exxon and consulting at Interact, has proven invaluable in ensuring that he continues to relate to the problems and pressures faced by organizations in today’s VUCA business environments, and is fundamental to his research interests, which include complexity leadership, global business drivers, organizational strategy, sustainability, innovation, knowledge management, organizational learning, and emerging technological paradigms such as The Fourth Industrial Revolution. Peter previously served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Knowledge Management Practice; Consulting and Special Issues Editor of The Learning Organization; and Associate Editor (Practitioners) of International Journal of Sociotechnology & Knowledge Management. Peter has to date published over sixty scholarly papers, and co-authored three popular business- related books.
John Pourdehnad is an educator/consultant in the field of strategic management and change, using systems thinking as a worldview and design thinking as a methodology to dissolve complex intractable problems. As a scholar-practitioner he has consulted with large and small for-profit and not-for-profit organizations across many industries, and with government agencies helping management and leadership teams develop strategic plans and transformational roadmaps. He teaches at the undergraduate and graduate level and executive education at University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson. He has published dozens of papers in a variety of academic and trade journals, was a featured contributor to the BusinessWeek weblog, and is a member of several editorial boards including the journal, Systems Research and Behavioral Science (Wiley). John Pourdehnad who earned his PhD in Social Systems Sciences from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and is a Fulbright scholar, has presented keynote speaker lectures, mostly on systems thinking and design thinking, for many global educational, corporate and government institutions.
