Editor/Author Biographies
Joel J. P. C. Rodrigues [S’01, M’06, SM’06] is a professor at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), Brazil; and senior researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, Portugal. He received the Academic Title of Aggregated Professor in informatics engineering from UBI, Portugal, the Habilitation in computer science and engineering from the University of Haute Alsace, France, a PhD degree in informatics engineering and an MSc degree from the UBI, and a five-year BSc degree (licentiate) in informatics engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Prof. Rodrigues is the leader of the Next Generation Networks and Applications research group (CNPq), Director for Conference Development - IEEE ComSoc Board of Governors, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, Technical Activities Committee Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Latin America Region Board, the President of the scientific council at ParkUrbis – Covilhã Science and Technology Park, the Past-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on eHealth, the Past-chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Communications Software, Steering Committee member of the IEEE Life Sciences Technical Community and Publications co-Chair, and Member Representative of the IEEE Communications Society on the IEEE Biometrics Council. He is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal on E-Health and Medical Communications and editorial board member of several high-reputed journals. He has been general chair and TPC Chair of many international conferences, including IEEE ICC, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE HEALTHCOM, and IEEE LATINCOM. He is a member of many international TPCs and participated in several international conferences organization. He has authored or coauthored over 800 papers in refereed international journals and conferences, 3 books, 2 patents, and 1 ITU-T Recommendation. He had been awarded several Outstanding Leadership and Outstanding Service Awards by IEEE Communications Society and several best papers awards. Prof. Rodrigues is a licensed professional engineer (as senior member), member of the Internet Society, and a senior member ACM and IEEE.

Kai Lin is an assistant professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology, Dalian University of Technology. He received a PhD degree in computer science and a MS degree in communication engineering from Northeastern University, China, and a BS degree in electronic engineering from Dalian University of Technology, China. His research interests include wireless network, body area network, ubiquitous computing, and cloud computing. He is an associate editor of the Recent Patents on Telecommunications, and also served several journals and Special Issues as editor or guest editor. He served as General Chair, Technical Program Committee Chair, publicity Chair for many international conferences, including IEEE I-SPAN, CSE, SCALCOM, EmbeddedCom, MWNS, IWSMN, MSN, ChinaGrid. He also participated in more than forty of international TPCs. He has authored or coauthored over 100 papers in international journals and conferences.

Jaime Lloret received his M.Sc. In Physics in 1997 at the University of Valencia and he finished a postgraduate Master in Corporative networks and Systems Integration from the Department of Communications in 1999. Later, he received his M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering in 2003 at University of Valencia and his Ph.D. in telecommunication engineering (Dr. Ing.) at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2006. Before concluding his PhD. Thesis he obtained the first place given by the Spanish Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation for the Campus of Excellence in the New Technologies and Applied Sciences Area. He was awarded the prize of the best doctoral Student in the Telecommunications area in 2006 according to the Social Council of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He is a Cisco Certified Network Professional Instructor of the regional academy "Universidad Politécnica de Valencia" in the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) and he is the Legal Main Contact of UPV-ADIF (local academy of the CNAP). He teaches Local Area Networks and Systems Integration in the "Escuela Politecnica Superior de Gandia" from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He has been working as a network designer and administrator in several companies. His academic interests and research are P2P networks, Wireless Local Area Networks, Sensor Networks and Routing Protocols. He also researches on educational approaches and strategies.
