Editor/Author Biographies

Nurdan Taskiran was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She received her BA degree from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, English Language & Literature Dept. She got her MA in English Literature and Language and PhD in Communication Sciences . She has worked for Marmara University for 16 years and Kocaeli University for 14 years and 3 years for Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Communication Faculty. Now, she is an emeritus professor working for Istanbul Medipol University, School of Communication since 2017. She has articles in academic journals in Turkish and English on visual communication, visual semiotics, discourse analyses, film analyses, semiological studies on films, tv serials and advertisements. She also writes books and translates articles on Media Literacy (problems & suggestions for Turkiye). She has been giving graduate and postgraduate level courses on Media Literacy, Visual Semiology, Advertising Strategies, Discourse Analyses, Film Analyses, Visual Culture, Media Ethics. She is also interested in animal communication, iconography, and social media. She is married with two children.
