Description & Coverage
Description:

Advanced approaches to software engineering and design are capable of solving complex computational problems and achieving standards of performance that were unheard of only decades ago.

Handbook of Research on Emerging Advancements and Technologies in Software Engineering presents a comprehensive investigation of the most recent discoveries in software engineering research and practice, with studies in software design, development, implementation, testing, analysis, and evolution. Software designers, architects, and technologists, as well as students and educators, will find this book to be a vital and in-depth examination of the latest notable developments within the software engineering community.

Coverage:

The many academic areas covered in this publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced Architectures
  • Model-Driven Development
  • Project Management
  • Re-Engineering
  • Requirement Engineering
  • Service-Oriented Software Engineering
  • Social Systems
  • Software Evolution
  • Testing, Analysis, and Refinement
Reviews & Statements

Twenty-six papers present recent advances in software design and construction, requirements definition, agile development, software quality and testing, and software management. The contributors propose a model-driven solution for the automatic generation of executable code from business process models, a framework for the specification of service-oriented software architectures, an algebraic approach for the specification and verification of aspect-oriented systems, and a service discovery framework for distributed embedded real-time systems.

Imran Ghani is a Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Campus. He received his Master of Information Technology Degree from UAAR (Pakistan), M.Sc Computer Science from UTM (Malaysia) and Ph.D. from Kookmin University (South Korea). His research focus includes studying agile software development practices, semantics techniques, content-based, collaborative filtering techniques, semantic web services, semantics-based software testing, business IT, enterprise architecture and software architecture.
Wan Mohd Nasir Wan Kadir is an Associate Professor in Software Engineering (SE) Department, Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He received his BSc. from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, MSc. from UMIST, and Ph.D. in the field of Software Engineering from The University of Manchester. He has been an academic staff at SE Department for more than fifteen years. He was the Head of the SE Department from 2005 to 2009 and currently, he is the Deputy Dean (Development) of the Faculty of Computing. He is the Co-Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Innovative Computing (IJIC) and the International Journal of SE and Technology (IJSET). He is also the Chairman of the 2nd Malaysian SE Conference (MySEC’06) and a member of pro-tem committee of Malaysian SE Interest Group (MySEIG). He serves as a Program Committee member of ICSEA (2008-2010), APSEC (2008-2013), ICSOFT (2009-2010), ENASE (2009-2011), and MySEC (2006-2013). His research interests covers various SE knowledge areas based on the motivation to reduce the cost of development and maintenance as well as to improve the quality of large and complex software systems and include adaptable software architecture, software evolution, service-oriented software engineering, model-driven development, software testing, and software measurement.
Mohammad Nazir Ahmad is currently working in the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Systems at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor Malaysia. He is part of the Software Engineering Research Group (SERG) and is involved in teaching and research in databases, system development and information systems. Under SERG, he is a coordinator of Applied Ontology and Conceptual Modeling Special Interest Group (AOCO-SIG). Nazir holds a PhD from the University of Queensland in Information Systems and a Masters degree in Information Systems from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor degree in Industrial Computing from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia(UKM). His main research interests are innovative solutions for "knowledge-based" information systems that span several areas applying ontology and knowledge management for interoperating information systems, software engineering and enterprise system. Currently, he is an Editorial Board/Review Member of the International Journal of Knowledge Management Practice (JKMP), International Journal of Computer Science and Emerging Technologies (IJCSET) and International Journal of Information, Knowledge and Management (IJIKM). Morever, he is a member of Association for Information Systems (AIS) and International Association for Ontology and its Applications (IAOA).
