Editor/Author Biographies
Dr. Nabeel A. Al-Qirim joined academia in 1999 in New Zealand after working for 12 years in the IT industry with companies such as IBM, COMPAQ, Group Bull/Honeywell, Siemens Nixdorf, and Data General as a technical-solutions consultant and project manager. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, an MBA, a PostGradDip-IS (Honors with distinction), Cert. in Education, and a Ph.D. in information systems. In addition to teaching, he was promoted to roles including researcher and module coordinator for e-business at the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. In 2004, he joined the College of IT, United Arab Emirates University. He has published more than 50 articles in refereed international outlets including journals, books, conference papers, and book chapters. His research has covered different interdisciplinary areas such as IT and e-commerce strategy in businesses and in SMEs, e-government, health information systems and telemedicine, mobile commerce, outsourcing, supply chain management, and e-commerce in developing countries and in NGOs. Dr. Al-Qirim is active within the university’s inner and outer community: conferences (AMCIS, BLED, IIT, IRMA, MoMM), associations (AIS, IRMA, IFIP, SBIRIT) and on the editorial board of several journals (IJKM, EM, IJCEC, JECO, BPMJ, JCIT, DII, IRMJ). He is the co-chair of the IIT’05 conference. He also chaired several tracks and sessions in international conferences and organized workshops and panels.
