Introduction

The publication is a comprehensive book on space medicine, covering its definition, history, and relevance, as well as its impact on global health and sustainable development. It explores the effects of space travel on the human body, medical technologies and research, spacecraft and habitat design, and case studies in space medicine and healthcare. The book also addresses gender equality, innovation, partnerships, and ethical and legal considerations in space medicine.

Objective

The publication aims to showcase the contributions of space medicine to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). It highlights the potential of space medicine to improve healthcare on Earth, promote gender equality, drive innovation, and foster international cooperation. By sharing success stories and lessons learned, the book aims to inspire policymakers, healthcare professionals, and the general public to leverage space medicine for sustainable development.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 2, 2024, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by June 16, 2024 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by August 25, 2024, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-anonymized review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
